Loft Shoot
Here are a few pics taken just before lockdown. Worked with two amazing Dutch dancers, wow, could they move, and the confidence in front of the camera!
My first shooting experience is something I will never forget. The model was supposed to have ultraviolet light makeup so I ran around Cologne looking for the makeup. It was at Christmas time so everything was closed, luckily, carnival is a big deal in Cologne and I managed to score some makeup. In the end the photographer decided not to do it, and changed the brief completely.
A rainy day in Dusseldorf did not dampen our spirits! The team from RTL filmed us the whole day for their television spot, while we were shooting Germany’s Best Ager Model: Barbara Lutz. The photographer Stephanie Wolf called me the night before shooting because her makeup artist cancelled at last minute. I am glad that I picked up the phone and said „yes“ what an excellent experience.
Doing a shoot is a collaboration between artists. The joy for me is when the designer gives me a lot of flexibility. This shoot was a perfect example.
I think when people suffer trauma we can’t always see their scars, so in this shoot I wanted to make her scar very noticeable, see her pain, see her scar. Stockholm syndrome is something I became aware of many years ago due to Patty Hearst. You can not imagine my shock when Finn explained the concept to me and referred to his dress as the „Patty Dress“ based on Patty Hearst.
Here is a 21 year old student Finn Beckmann who is inspired by the kidnapping of Patty Hearst who ultimately got Stockholm syndrome. This happened in 1974. Amazing, how in-depth his research took him. I was truly impressed by his work, and I have to admit, that it has been one of the best highlights for this year.
Follow the Frame productions shot their film „Hannah“, my second film as makeup artist. Excellent experience, I could use more of them, even if its a night shoot, I am there with my headlights on, nothing like applying lipstick in the dark.
That’s right, our lovely model is holding a cow tongue with a pearl in it.
Worked on this amazing concept about emancipation for women. A woman who talks a lot and is catty apparently has a long tongue! Tongue and cheek is what I say. Thanks to Mirabela, Daniel, Sarah and Kim for this fun shoot.
Haz Collection July 2018, what a blast it was to work with Haz again. Also, had a chance to meet Bea a model/writer from Hamburg. Christian Bacher was behind camera bringing out the best of Haz’s work
The quintessential selfie ……. with Haz Sammy and Bea during the shooting of Amours Imaginaires.
So much work in the last few months so I am just catching up with all my backdated blog posts.
This was a great gig in collaboration with the Rheinbahn Dusseldorf and Communication Design students at the amd. Shooting was held outside in the bus terminal, almost wore my fur it was that cold. I even got a chance to makeup the bus drivers. ’not too much powder‘, one rather nervous driver told me.
