Here are a few pics taken just before lockdown. Worked with two amazing Dutch dancers, wow, could they move, and the confidence in front of the camera!
My first shooting experience is something I will never forget. The model was supposed to have ultraviolet light makeup so I ran around Cologne looking for the makeup. It was at Christmas time so everything was closed, luckily, carnival is a big deal in Cologne and I managed to score some makeup. In the end the photographer decided not to do it, and changed the brief completely.
A rainy day in Dusseldorf did not dampen our spirits! The team from RTL filmed us the whole day for their television spot, while we were shooting Germany’s Best Ager Model: Barbara Lutz. The photographer Stephanie Wolf called me the night before shooting because her makeup artist cancelled at last minute. I am glad that I picked up the phone and said „yes“ what an excellent experience.
Doing a shoot is a collaboration between artists. The joy for me is when the designer gives me a lot of flexibility. This shoot was a perfect example.
I think when people suffer trauma we can’t always see their scars, so in this shoot I wanted to make her scar very noticeable, see her pain, see her scar. Stockholm syndrome is something I became aware of many years ago due to Patty Hearst. You can not imagine my shock when Finn explained the concept to me and referred to his dress as the „Patty Dress“ based on Patty Hearst.
Here is a 21 year old student Finn Beckmann who is inspired by the kidnapping of Patty Hearst who ultimately got Stockholm syndrome. This happened in 1974. Amazing, how in-depth his research took him. I was truly impressed by his work, and I have to admit, that it has been one of the best highlights for this year.
That’s right, our lovely model is holding a cow tongue with a pearl in it.
Worked on this amazing concept about emancipation for women. A woman who talks a lot and is catty apparently has a long tongue! Tongue and cheek is what I say. Thanks to Mirabela, Daniel, Sarah and Kim for this fun shoot.
Another editorial, this time with Promo Magazine with the lovely Hannah Sophie ( model). I did my favourite messy up-do with loose curls and used a new colour by MAC, a soft bronze on the top lash line for a real romantic look. Ivani Ngp worked the magic behind the camera and Aleks Petrovic’s styling completed our shoot!
Wow, what a smoking picture! Ironically, it was such a hot day shooting at an abandoned petrol station ‚ Beatnik Rebel‘, by designer Aleks Petrovic. Meike Schurings from Model Raum was a pure profi!! Beatrice Arent, the photographer got bit by a bee, and cut her knee on a piece of glass. And I almost melted. But we all survived… the show must go on.
